Here's your chance to leverage your reputation for being master of the sales domain and your three to five years as an inspirational Director. Your overarching mission will be to drive our revenue and monetize our interactive model, bringing it to action. You'll accomplish it in part by using your unquestionable charisma and coaching skills. We'd also expect you to be highly capable in:
  • Online Verticals -- you'll have a proven track record in one or more critical interactive areas -- automotive, recruitment, real estate and retail. Your experience may come from working at a leading online company or at a newspaper where you will have been directly dealing with, or competing against, interactive advertising.
  • Matrix Organizational Structure -- your 10-person team's reporting structure follows a matrix system. Working effectively in this multilayered and often complex environment is crucial.

What You'll Bring to the Table

First the basics. You'll have a bachelor's degree or the equivalent work experience and proficiency in basic MS Office applications. You're already internally driven, have a highly professional demeanor and earn the respect of your colleagues, superiors and subordinates. You'll also continually put into play:
  • Your Love of Sales - not only are you passionate about the art of the sale but you're great at teaching, coaching and mentoring others at developing their consultative sales genius. You'll directly supervise two managers and have varied managerial responsibility for eight other account executives.
  • Your Versatility -- in a single day you might interact with the publisher, a sales assistant and a small business owners. You'll be able to adapt and develop influential relationships with each of them.
  • Your Exemplary Style -- your written and oral communication skills are polished, professional and powerful. More About Your Role

A good portion of your day will be spent overseeing interdisciplinary, cross-departmental activities. You report directly to the Vice President of Interactive and ensure your sales team is fully conversant and current with our wide range of product offerings and has all the resources and information they need to perform at the top of their game.

The remainder of the day could find you addressing hundreds of people at a sales conference, budgeting for a special product launch or paying a sales call to a local business.

A significant and pivotal part of your time will be in business development and new initiatives which requires you to collaborate and strategize with various departments including budgeting, research, sales, content and marketing. In the last six months alone we've brought to market several new Web-based products, including a tourism site, OC Post and a search engine enterprise. We're looking to you to help us keep the momentum going. Further details of responsibilities you'll assume include:
  • Develop and administer the Department's revenue, expense and payroll budgets and forecasts.
  • Manage and monitor monthly sales goals and performance to ensure the attainment of revenue. You'll configure monthly sales statistics and provide timely reports on current accomplishments, problems, trends and departmental needs.
  • Develop promotional and marketing programs to target new business.
  • Manage staff including performance evaluations, hiring, firing, disciplining and promoting assigned personnel.
  • Control quality of our advertisements and ensure the adherence of Freedom Orange County Information's standards of acceptance and advertising policies.
