| Freedom Communications Inc. Career Opportunities |
Opportunity Snapshot
This position offers you the opportunity to leverage cutting edge technology as you help develop emerging products in a high profile role. Not only will you have the gratification of seeing your work published online almost immediately, but rich and emerging media also get the attention of our senior leadership and your successes will be noticed. You'll learn new technologies and spend about half your time in new product development and refinement. In addition to sharing in the challenge and satisfaction of helping transform what is currently a newspaper and broadcast company into an interactive media powerhouse, you'll be in a position to take advantage of the "upward draft" of opportunity created by that transformation.
You will coordinate with Creative Services, IT, our field locations, and external vendors to test, implement and sometimes create from scratch rich and emerging media across the network of Freedom Communications, one of the nation's largest media corporations. To be a good fit for this opportunity you will have solid knowledge of HTML or JavaScript -- at least manipulating code, if not actually writing it. We'll also consider candidates with strong ad ops experience and a demonstrated aptitude for learning technologies like DHTML quickly. We're looking for a professional who can manage multiple projects in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment. Formal QA experience is strongly preferred.
Freedom Interactive is a division of Freedom Communications, headquartered in Irvine, CA. Freedom Interactive owns and operates web sites coast to coast, each offering up-to-the-minute breaking news stories, extensive local content, and trusted local news coverage on demand. The company's web sites are associated with various Freedom Communications media properties including over 100 newspapers and magazines, such as The Orange County Register, as well as eight leading broadcast television stations.
What Else You'll Bring to the Table
In addition to the qualifications detailed above, you'll need:
What's in It for You
High visibility -- rich and emerging media represents not only the future direction of our company (the Interactive Division is one of FCI's major corporate initiatives for the next few years), but a significant revenue stream. It won't be unusual for senior executives to stop by and congratulate you on your successes.
High impact -- while you'll invest a fair amount of your time handling day-to-day trafficking, you'll also devote about half your time to developing new products and processes. In addition to providing other team members with technical training, you'll provide them with insights into new features and sales strategies.
Career development -- our success depends on our staying on the leading edge of online media, and you'll learn new technology and techniques on an ongoing basis. Your success in this role could set you up to pursue a number of opportunities within the growing Interactive Division and throughout Freedom Communications.
The best of both worlds -- you'll enjoy the entrepreneurial energy of a new venture as well as the stability and resources of Freedom Communications, Inc, with revenues approaching $1 billion.
Excellent compensation -- in addition to a competitive base salary and bonus incentive program, we offer a comprehensive benefits package that includes medical and dental insurance, a 401(k) plan, a generous allotment of paid time off, and more.
